On behalf of the 2006/07 GSO eboard, I would like to welcome you all to a new academic year in Binghamton University. As a graduate student you must be proud of your achievement as a vanguard in your intellectual field of endeavor. The GSO is the collective mouth piece of graduate students on campus. As such, it empowers all its members to strive to achieve set goals in an equal-opportunity academic atmosphere that is devoid of intimidation, racial discrimination and preferential treatments. As elected officers of GSO, we will serve most of your pressing needs as well as (re) present your consensual views both within and without campus. Especially, on imminent issues, such as funding and grad welfare, which are essential ingredients needed for our professional development. In return we call for your unflinching support for our programs, solidarity and active involvement in the activities of your departmental GSO and Socio-Cultural GSO. Together, let us champion the course of productive graduate studies here in great Binghamton University.
We closely cooperate with students’ associations of other universities as well. The state of Iowa is one of our partners. One of the students in one of these associations said ”I believe I speak in the name of all Iowa students when I say that the partnership we have developed with Binghamton University in New York is one of the most powerful and fulfilling we have. The mission and concepts they have should reign among all higher education institutions. This is the only way the peaks of education and culture can be reached”.
GSO President, 2006/07
