Mission Statement:

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:03 pm

The mission of the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) is to promote the educational, political, and socio-cultural development of graduate students enrolled at SUNY-Binghamton and to ensure adequate representation and participation in decision-making processes at various institutional levels (university, schools, departments and other bodies). As a parent body for all approved departmental and non-departmental graduate student organizations, the GSO also supports various student activities.

To achieve its goal of student empowerment, the GSO aims to: inform graduate students of current administrative issue and policies; encourage students to get involved with the GSO by becoming graduate representatives in administrative committees particularly at the university-wide, departmental and GSO levels; facilitate an arena in which situations disadvantageous to graduate students can be communicated to and resolved with other members of the student body, and to foster a general network of outreach and support among its members.
